About Course

Course Objectives

This module equips learners with essential healthcare skills to provide safe, person-centred care in community settings. It covers basic procedures, safe mobility techniques, effective communication, infection control practices, and culturally sensitive care planning that respects client dignity and autonomy.

Course Description

1. Perform fundamental healthcare procedures such as taking vital signs, assisting with personal hygiene, and providing feeding support, in accordance with feeding management, medication management, wound management and infection control guidelines.
2. Demonstrate proper techniques in safe patient handling, mobility and ambulation assistance to ensure client safety and prevent injury to both the caregiver and the client.
3. Communicate effectively with clients and the care team using appropriate interpersonal skills, maintaining professionalism, effective communication, and respect for clients’ dignity and cultural preferences.
4. Apply basic infection prevention and control (IPC) practices such as hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and cleaning of care equipment in line with institutional protocols.
5. Demonstrate culturally sensitive and person-centred care planning, respecting client autonomy, social context, and family involvement in decision-making.

This module equips learners with essential healthcare skills to provide safe, person-centred care in community settings. It covers basic procedures, safe mobility techniques, effective communication, infection control practices, and culturally sensitive care planning that respects client dignity and autonomy.
A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to learner who achieve at least 75% attendance and pass all required assessment(s).

A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to learner who meet the 75% attendance requirement.

This module is part of the SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme (SCTP) Community Care and Support.

Entry Requirements

Applicant must fufilled either of the following requirement:
  1. Obtained at least a C6 grade in GCE ‘O’ or ‘N’ Level in any 1 subject or equivalent, OR
  2. National ITE Certificate (NITEC) or Higher National ITE Certificate (Higher NITEC)

GST rate

The course fees payable above are inclusive of 9% GST rate.

The first payment needs to be made after accepting the offer.

The course fee allows to be paid by:
Post-Secondary Education Account (Adhoc withdrawal form);
SkillsFuture Credits (SFC);
Credit card (e-payment);
Debit card (e-payment);
PayNow (e-payment).

Refund and withdrawal policy

  • Please note that a 100% refund will be available if the withdrawal request is submitted more than or equal to 14 days before the course start date.
  • Please note that a 50% refund will be available if the withdrawal request is submitted less than 14 days before the course start date.
  • Please note that no refund will be available if the withdrawal request is submitted on or after the course start date.

Remarks

Government funding for SCTP only applies to all Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents aged 21 years old and above, for more information please visit:

Learners applying for SCTP modules on standalone basis are not eligible for Additional Funding Support (AFS) and SkillsFuture Mid Career Training Allowance (TA).

SkillsFuture Credit (SFC) can only be used to cover:
(i) Course fees payable;
(ii) Assessment fees which are part of the course;
(iii) Certification fees which are part of the course; and
(iv) GST imposed on components supported for SFC use.

Penalty charges apply if you:
(i) are absent/no-show;
(ii) withdraw from a course within 14 days of the course start date;
(iii) fail to meet terms and conditions for funding eligibility.

SFC cannot be used to offset penalty charges imposed by Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
